One of the wonderful things about Hyena Cart is that you’ve got access to built-in promotional opportunities including “spots”, the stocking calendar, the shopper search, the forums, the banner ads, featured shops, and Google Base. Here’s a quick overview of each of these options.
The Calendar: Each shop can appear on the calendar once a week. The calendar will automatically add your store when you schedule an item for sale. It will show only your latest stocking during a week so if you’re stocking Monday and Friday, only Friday will list you. It updates hourly so give it a bit of time before worrying if you don’t show up right away. Schedule your items at least a few days in advance and you’ll get extra traffic through the calendar.
The Shopper Search: Shoppers can search the Hyena Cart shops from this page. Note that three letter searches don’t work yet, but it’s under development. Only available items show up in a search, so if your item is previewing it won’t show up until it goes live.
Banner Ads: Banner advertisements are $ 10/month and available in several locations on the Hyena Cart site. You can also use HC$ from the forums to pay for your advertising spots. Notes: make sure your banner name is all lowercase, less than 126KB in size, and that it’s exactly the size of the banner spot you purchased, or it won’t work properly.
The Forums: You can promote your store in the “Marketplace” forum. Post sale notices, a note about a new product
or item you’ve stocked, etc.
Spots: Customers use the “spots” system to let other customers know about cool products they’ve seen. You can’t spot your own products, but if a visitor sees something they like and spots it, it’ll show up on this page and be featured.
Featured Shops: Featured shops is a paid 24-hour spot to feature your shop on the front page of Hyena Cart.
Google Base: Inside your vendor pages under “Promote” you’ll see “Google Base.” This option will generate a file you can use to upload your products to the Google Base site. You’ll need an account at Google. Just follow the steps in the link above and it’ll walk you through it.
